As the book has repetitive phrases, the children have the opportunity to follow along the story and repeat aloud with the teacher.

The book also has a lot of repetition and rhyming words in some of the pages. As the students find themselves around other children, it is important to let them know that it is okay to be “different” because being different makes us special. This book introduces the idea that we are all different and unique in our own way. I chose this book because it is a beautiful print that not only has rhyming words, but it also can be a mirror book for some children. Perry, illustrated by Bea Jackson, introduces a lot of important ideas that are essential for children’s introduction in the classroom. As she goes around trying to find somebody with the same hair as her, she soon starts to notice that everybody is unique and very special in their own way. The little girl tries to understand why her curly hair looks different from other kids around her. Perry is a fun and easy to read story that introduces a little girl who is trying to understand the many reasons why nobody looks exactly the same.
